Congregation Shaarey Torah - "The Shtieble" & The Manhattan Beach Community Kollel

CONGREGATION SHAAREY TORAH - THE SHTIEBLE

Located in Manhattan Beach, a peninsula surrounded by both the Atlantic Ocean and Sheepshead Bay, Congregation Shaarey Torah, affectionately known as “The Shtieble,” is a vibrant, growing Orthodox Kehillah taking root in Brooklyn, NY.

Guided and inspired by our Rov and spiritual leader, Rabbi Moshe Plutchok, Shlita, this is a Makom Torah & Tefila every day of the week. Beginning with Shacharis, continuing with the limud of the Kollel, our chavrusah and chaburah studies and various shiurim seven days a week, the words of Torah and Tefilah resonate through our building at all hours of the day and night.

The beauty of living in Manhattan Beach is it is comparable to living in the suburbs but has all the conveniences of Jewish life in the city. We are located between a bay and the ocean with several beautiful playgrounds, parks for the children to play in and we have the Brighton Beach boardwalk to take a leisurely stroll on. We also have an approved natural eruv surrounding our community and have a mikvah, kosher supermarkets, restaurants and seforim stores are 5-10 minutes away.

The Shtieble kehillah is most eclectic. We have people who are frum-from-birth and we have balei teshuva. We have talmedei chachamim and people who are aspiring to become more learned. We have  ashkenazim, sefardim and chassidim all under the same roof. We have people raised in America, Israel, France, Eastern Europe, Morrocco and in the former Soviet Union making this shtieble a veritable chulent of personalities, customs and differant ways to serve Hashem.

The Shtieble's camaraderie and Ahavas Orchim are famous around the world. Members vacationing in Scandinavia, Eretz Yisroel, California, Florida and Australia have returned after meeting someone who remembers having been in our shul and experiencing the warmth and shalom bais that defines us.

What do they remember so vividly? For some it’s the beautiful tefilos & negunim in Kabbalas Shabbos, Shacharis, Mussuf or Hallel. For others the inimitable feeling one gets attending a Shalom Zachor, Aufruf, Bris Milah, Bar Mitzvah or Siyum in our shul. Somer remember the Shabbos and Yom Tov Kiddushim with different types of herrings, chulent, kishka, kugel and shnapps and the feeling of community a part of the kehillah rather tahn a visitor sitting at the table. Many remember being mesmerized by Rabbi Plutchok’s Shabbos drasha, Pirkei Avos and Tuesday night shiurim, his talmud classes or his inspirational words of Hashkafa and enlightening discussions during Seudah Shilisi on topics ranging from everyday questions in Halacha to highly controversial issues such as Indian hair sheitels or copepods in the water.

Still what makes "THE SHTIEBLE" truly unique is how everyone  is made to feel like an integral part of the kehillah, even after being with us for only a minute or two.

So if you are looking for a warm, friendly, safe Jewish community to live in and bring your children up in, email us at webmaster@theshtieble.org we can arrange for you to spend a Shabbos with us and see what we have to offer first hand.
